The GS1 DataBar Image Generator is operated through a graphic interface and can be operated through a command line interface for volume processing. The automatic file naming is useful in such volume production. Image formats handled include JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP, WMF and BMP formats. The settings and properties can be set for a batch of label making. The interface makes it easy to set the properties. It is divided into tabs that group barcode, text 7 color, image, PDF and caption tabs. You set the related properties, such as the label dimensions, in the appropriate tab. The functional commands are grouped as buttons below the main screen. These are “generate image file”, “copy to clipboard”, “print image”, “refresh image” and “help”.

The operation is quite self-explanatory and thus easy to learn even for beginners. Complete source code is available for those who want to integrate the software into their own application. Bar code setting can be saved into XML files and can be imported into the program through XML files. Real time preview helps during making the label image. Label orientation to 90, 180 and 270 degrees are possible. This is quite an easy to use label maker for bar codes, works very well.
